BBQs not permitted on Trust premises due to heightened fire risk

There has been no significant rainfall since April in the region and, with high temperatures forecast into next week, there is a heightened risk of fires.

On the advice of the fire service, the Trust has made the decision that BBQs of any kind will not be permitted on Trust property from 9th August 2022 as it is felt the additional risk is excessive. Everyone should also take great care when extinguishing and disposing of cigarettes with the ground extremely dry.

The situation will be reviewed periodically in line with the weather conditions and advice from the Fire Authority.

Essex Fire service station manager Dan Wastell said: “We’re dealing with unprecedented temperatures coupled with drought-like conditions. Everything is currently tinder dry presenting a significant risk, as has been seen by many recent fires, and we are urging extra precaution until we see a change in the weather.”
