Calling all ECAs!

Manual handling ambulance credited to SCAS

Are you an emergency care assistant (ECA) currently working in a frontline role with the Trust? Have you been thinking about your career development and starting your journey to becoming a paramedic?

Your ECA training you have undertaken means you already meet the educational requirements for the student paramedic role. The chance to join our student paramedic programme is the start of a new career; this opportunity will mean you continue to receive a salary and training throughout the duration of the course, with those who pass able to make an application to register with the Health and Care Professions Council, the paramedic professional body.  We will also look to protect your current ECA salary arrangements (including unsocial hours) until the point your student paramedic role becomes more financially beneficial.

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: “This is just one of the ways we’re providing development opportunities for our staff, and I’d encourage all our ECAs to look at the programme and consider applying. We’re determined to keep investing in our staff and it’s a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills.”

Please be aware that to join you will need to officially leave your role as an ECA before embarking on the programme, but you can view our specialist ECA to student paramedic advert here on NHS Jobs.
