Casualties sought for Marauding Terrorist Attack exercises

Ambulance and fire services

As a Trust we will be running 14 Marauding Terrorist Attack exercises again this year, during September and October.  The exercises will test responders from the Police, Fire and Rescue Service as well as the Ambulance Service.

As with previous years we are looking for support with people taking on the vital role of “live patients”.

This year the exercises will be taking place on the following days, with times to be confirmed, but we are expecting them to be between 1000 and 1700hrs.

  • 13 and 14 September
  • 20 and 21 September
  • 27 and 28 September
  • 4 and 5 October
  • 11 and 12 October
  • 18 and 19 October
  • 25 and 26 October

We have been very lucky to secure the old Papworth Hospital Site in Cambridgeshire for all the exercises this year and we will be working with NHS England to refit part of the hospital back out to its former glory as a hospital; adding to the realism we are able to create for the responders.

Unfortunately, like previous years, we are not able to pay anyone who attends as a casualty but we will be able to offer you a meal during the day, as well as an experience you will find both useful as well as enjoyable.  EEAST staff who attend, and require one, will be provided with a CPD certificate showing your involvement and learning.

If you would be interested in joining us as a patient, then please can you send an email to SpecialistOperations@eastamb.nhs.uk with the dates you can assist. Volunteers attending must not be scheduled to work that day, must not be coming off of a night or going onto a night shift.

As always, please can I take this opportunity to thank you for your help and support as without your dedication these exercises would not be able to run as successfully as they do.
