Celebrating Diwali at Bedford Corn Exchange

Diwali, known as the ‘festival of lights’, is the most important holiday for millions of Indians around the world, and this year it falls on 30th October.

It celebrates the victory of good over evil, and is known as the ‘festival of lights’ because houses, shops and public places are decorated with small earthenware oil lamps called diyas – the word Diwali literally means ‘rows of lighted lamps’.

A festival of lights is taking place at Bedford Corn Exchange this Saturday (29th October), and the Trust will have a stall from 3-8pm. The team on hand will provide information about the service, and ask for people’s views and feedback on what we do.

If you’re about this weekend, please come and see us!
