Celebrating International Paramedics Day 2023

Celebrating International Paramedics Day

Chief Allied Health Professional, Simon Chase, talks about the importance of International Paramedics Day and how you can get involved.

Saturday 8th July marks the second International Paramedics Day, a time that it is hoped to continue to build on the inaugural success last year promoting the better understanding of what the role of a paramedic undertakes and supports continuing to improve healthcare across the globe.

A number of activities will be happening from the College of Paramedics focusing on “What Paramedics Do” International Paramedics Day (collegeofparamedics.co.uk)  to the events posted on the International Paramedics Day own website, HOME | International Paramedics Day where resources are being added to on a regular basis.

Regarding the development of Paramedics, NHS England and Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE)  have recently released a document on how Paramedics can influence leadership at a strategic level Paramedic leadership in ambulance trusts in England: new report published by NHS England - aace.org.uk  and is the first time the role of a Paramedic has been formally recognised at this level.

As the interim Chief Allied Health Professional for the Trust and a practising Paramedic, I will continue to work and support the Board and Executive in helping all our staff from commencing on their clinical journey through to leading system change.

Whilst it doesn’t need a day to acknowledge the work all of us do, on behalf of the patients we have contact with, fellow colleagues working at the Trust, may I wish you all a Happy International Paramedics day on the 8th July.

Simon Chase
