Changes to planning and resourcing

Calendar

The planning and resourcing programme is an exciting project, which will transform and improve the Trust wide resource planning and scheduling function.

Having undergone a formal review and various audits the findings from these highlighted inconsistencies, inefficiencies, under utilised GRS functionality and lack of training which are no longer sustainable. This two-year transformation programme is designed to invest in, and enhance the planning and resourcing function by increasing and developing dedicated professional staff undertaking the scheduling, streamlining the process with a new Trust wide centralised department and enhanced GRS system bringing the Trust in line with national developments and NHSE e-rostering requirements.

The planning and scheduling function is currently carried out by a variety of roles locally - from the sector resource planning managers, leading operation managers, locality administrators as part of their role. The new planning and resourcing team will recognise the critical and specialist nature of this professional role to create a more efficient resource planning and forecasting approach that benefits all staff and ultimately improves patient care outcomes. With new and revised roles this also creates an opportunity for development and career progression for existing staff.

The planning and resourcing programme team will commence formal staff consultation on Wednesday 9th August, and this process will continue for 30 days. During this time, affected staff members will have a valuable opportunity to thoroughly review the adapted vision and provide constructive feedback.

The consultation document will be added to East 24 in due course. In the meantime you can learn more about the planning and resourcing programme via further information available on the dedicated EAST24 page.
