COVID/Flu prevention instructions

COVID-19

COVID/WINTER ‘FLU MEASURES NOW IN FORCE AT ALL SITES
A significant rise in respiratory illnesses in the community, along with clusters of staff contracting COVID is impacting both individuals and Trust function in some of our teams, especially Make Ready and Emergency Operations Centres.

There have been 289 positive COVID cases in EEAST in December so far.

It is difficult to differentiate between COVID and Flu symptoms as they can be very similar, so please continue to LFT test, especially if you are symptomatic.

For this reason, with immediate effect, the following instructions are required to be implemented on all Trust sites.

Mask wearing

  • When entering any Trust premises
  • When moving around stations
  • When working within 2m of others if not behind screens
  • In vehicle cabs.

Distancing

  • Aim to be spaced greater than 1m apart, (2m preferably). If this is not achievable screens should be in place and/or masks worn.
  • Space out appropriately during other activities such as meal breaks.
  • Avoid unnecessary gatherings of people.
  • Stagger meal breaks and limit contact between different teams/groups where possible.

Food sharing

  • Communal ‘buffet’ style food that is open for multiple people to be near of touch must be avoided.

These are obligatory working instructions to be followed by all trust staff.

Thank you to all the staff who have embraced this new instruction to keep us all safe.
These instructions be reviewed again in the week commencing 16th January 2023.
