Disposal of vape pens at work

We have had incidents at multiple sites recently where our battery recycling containers have been rejected by the waste provider due to contamination with disposable vapes.

These vapes are complex to recycle as contain many different components, including a battery, metal, wiring, plastic, and liquid.

There are specialist recycling facilities you can take these vapes to, but this is a costly service and not something the Trust is able to provide.

To prevent contamination of the Trust’s waste streams, it is recommended that you take these vapes home with you to dispose of. Failing that, you can use the general waste bins, but this is not the preferred option.
