ePCR update - upgrade to Siren 5.8.0

Siren Logo

On the 2nd May at around 14.30 we will be upgrading Siren from our current version 5.6.0 to 5.8.0. Please could we ask that all users are on the most up to date version of iOS (16.3.1) to prepare for the new Siren release.

Before the update it would be good to open the Hub app and make sure it has sync in the support tab. This will give the best chance for your device to update automatically. When the update is released Siren should update automatically but you may find that you have to manually request a reinstall from the Hub app.

Please note that there may be a brief interruption of Siren connectivity while the update takes place, you will not get a Green light during this time but the data will automatically sync when the connection is restored.

What’s new in Siren?

Electronic Role Forms

The new version of Siren brings with it digital ROLE form which will entirely replace the need to complete our current paper version when an iPad or ePCR is available.

The Recognition of Life Extinct fields can be found under the Treatments section. Along with new Signatures that will need to be completed in the signatures section.

ROLE identification tags must be applied to the patient as normal, but no physical paperwork is required to be left on scene for the Police or undertakers, if they wish to have a copy of the ROLE form, they can request a copy by contacting the subject access request team at SARS@eastamb.nhs.uk. Coroners will contact the EEAST Coroners team who can also access the ROLE forms electronically.

To support the new ROLE form, the following additional Mandatories have been added;

  • Complete Role if Deceased Transported or Deceased Not Transported is selected
  • - Complete Role and Witness Signature if ROLE sections completed

Allergies

The patients documented allergies display when recording a drug in the treatments section. This provides additional clinical safety to avoid administration of medications the patient is known to be allergic to.

Mental Capacity Assessment

The mental capacity section has been updated to reflect the correct current order and wording of the capacity assessment.
