February is LGBT+ History Month

LGBT+

Today is the start of LGBT+ History Month. Founded in 2004, it is celebrated every February across the UK. The month is for everyone, and is celebrated by individuals, social groups and networks alike.

Every year has a different theme, and this year’s national theme is #BehindTheLens which celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film. At time were LGBT+ lives are in the media, we are encouraging you to look ‘behind the lense’ and listen to LGBT+ peoples lived experiences.

During LGBT+ History Month trusts across England, including EEAST, have the opportunity to demonstrate how they are taking action to support LGBTQ+ equality in the workplace.

Throughout the month we will be sharing an update on EEASTs LGBT network and introducing the network officers. Don’t forget to follow their Twitter account @EEAST_LGBT as they share information about LGBT+ History throughout the month.

If you’re interested in joining the LGBT network or would like to find out more information please email LGBT@eastamb.nhs.uk

What's happening in the NHS during LGBT+ History Month

  • The NHS Confederation's Health and Care LGBTQ+ Leaders Network will be actively sharing details of events via Twitter and will be launching some new resources. Follow them on Twitter @NHSC_LGBTQ for regular updates and tweet using the hashtag #LGBTplusHM.
