Fit for the Future blog: Ask People Services

In People Services, we have been offering staff quarterly ‘Ask People Services’ events to engage directly with the team on an appointment basis. We have held two sessions so far, one in November and one in February, with the next planned for May.

Each day focuses on different HR Topics and features a variety of specialists from within the People Services Team. Staff have the opportunity to book a 30 minute slot with their chosen People Services Specialist to ask questions privately or share feedback. The November event focused on Employee Relations and Recruitment, whilst February’s event focused on the HR Business Partnering Team and Redeployment.

The purpose of the events is to increase support offered to staff and give the opportunity to ask questions privately that they may not want to or feel comfortable to ask in other forums. With the People Services Team Transformation almost complete, we are ready to increase our engagement with staff and be more intrinsically involved in the day-to-day activities of the Trust as a whole. These events give us the opportunity to support our staff directly, whilst building relationships and ensuring our colleagues in other directorates know about and understand the services we can offer.

Both Ask People Services events were fully booked, and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants expressing that it was a valuable and worthwhile experience. Our hosts from the People Services Team also found these events to be useful in understanding issues currently affecting our colleagues, enabling us to adjust our plans around those as appropriate.

Our next Ask People Services event is currently provisionally booked for Friday 05 May and will be focused on our Health & Wellbeing, HR Business Partnering, Recruitment and Employee Relations services. A People Services specialist from each area will be available for staff to book a private session with to discuss any questions or feedback they may have.

We will be publishing a Need to Know article nearer the time with details of how to book a 30 minute slot with one of the specialists.

If you do have any feedback about the sessions so far or have some suggestions for future sessions, please get in touch with Chloe Adams, People Services Executive Assistant or Rachel Tremble, People Services Business Support Manager. We would love to hear from you.

Marika Stephenson, Executive Director of People Services
