Flowchart released to help triage end of life patients

A new guidance flowchart designed to help provide support when you’re attending to or triaging an end of life patient has been released today (18th April).

The flowchart is designed to help guide your decision making, and ensure that, whatever the outcome, the patient and their wishes are known and followed wherever possible.

A number of staff from across the Trust came together to help develop the flowchart, and it has also had input from hospice staff and doctors. Thank you to everyone involved in its creation!

You can download and print a copy here.

Search engine MiDOS will be available for everyone shortly and this will also have contact numbers for palliative helplines. Please do utilise these services when you are with a patient, as they should have access to information about their wishes, treatments and prognosis.

For further advice or support remember the clinical advice line is available. Please use them if you are unsure on scene, or email the area clinical lead team at clinical.leads@eastamb.nhs.uk for non-urgent clinical guidance.
