Golden duo receive EOC award

Praise has been heaped on two of Bedford’s call takers for reaching an important landmark in providing excellent 'customer service’.

Jade, 30, and 27-year-old Stacey have been given the gold award for being 100% compliant with expected standards when taking 999 calls.

Calls which come into our three emergency operation centres (EOCs) are stringently audited – and call-handlers need full compliance in 100 consecutive calls to achieve the prestigious gold standard.

Jade and Stacey, who have 10 years’ service between them, are among an elite few in our three EOCs to gain the award – and the first from Bedford EOC this year. Last week they were presented with their certificates by Head of EOC Gary Morgan.

Bedford’s Senior EOC Manager Nicholas Jones has praised the duo for their efforts: "I'm very proud of them; Stacey and Jade are both very conscientious members of staff and I'm very pleased to see what they’ve achieved. They are an asset to the EOC team, and their approach to call taking is an excellent example to all."

The Trust aims to achieve at least 95% compliance in this area so it continues to improve the way 999 callers are treated.
