Hybrid Connex Trial Goes Live across Norfolk and Waveney

Hybrid Connex Trial

On Friday the 8th September the new Hybrid Connex trial started in Norfolk and Waveney.

This is a national research project that EEAST are supporting, looking at the use of bonded cellular technology combined with low level satellite communications to create a permanent connection that the Trust iPads can link to via Wifi when in and around the vehicles.

When on the vehicles users iPads will automatically connect to the system allowing them to use to systems such as Siren, GP Connect and Summary Care in areas where there was previously no coverage.

The connection is expected to by always available when inside or near the vehicle as well as maintaining a connection while in patients homes depending on how for away from the vehicle the crew end up.

Phil Elvidge ePCR Clinical Lead said “It's great to see this trial begin, I spent the day with a crew last week while we completed the final testing and was able to see the system providing connection in areas not normally covered as well as faster data speeds”

The trial will now run for the next 90 days, staff working on the vehicles fitted with the system can provide feedback using the QR codes within the vehicle to complete a quick MS Form.

All iPad devices will connect to the system so users outside the trial area who find themselves in the vicinity of the connected vehicles may also see their devices connect.
