Inaugural Virtual Honours Festival

Awards

As part of a week of virtual festivities that coincides with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, an event is being held for the Health and Social Care sectors on 15th June from 1-2pm to explain how the honours process works.

The inaugural virtual Honours Festival is jointly organised by the Department of Health and Social Care and the Cabinet Office and runs from 14th to 17th June, with the aim of helping more people understand how the honours system works and encouraging nominations from across the UK and the Health and Social Care sector.

All events are free and available for anyone to sign up to who has an interest in honours and making a nomination for someone deserving. Full details on all of the week’s events and registration can be found here.

As part of the week of festivities, there is a specific event planned for those based within the Health and Social Care sector, which will feature a panel of recent honours recipients including Professor Alka Ahuja MBE, Psychiatrist, Vic Rayner OBE, Executive Director of the National Care Forum, Ellie Orton OBE, CEO of NHS Charities Together and Dr Sarbjit Clare MBE, Frontline Senior Doctor, along with Dame Jane Dacre DBE, Chair of the Health Honours Committee.

Each of the participants will share their personal stories and experience of receiving an honour, as well as their thoughts on how to encourage more nominations from across the Health and Social Care sector. This will take place virtually on Wednesday 15th June from 1-2pm.

During the session you’ll hear from a variety of inspirational honours recipients, while taking the opportunity to learn more about the UK honours system and how you can make your own nomination for someone amazing. Full details on all of the week’s events and registration can be found here.

Other events planned throughout the week include a practical nomination writing workshop, discussions on diversity and history of the honours system as well as a variety of other sector specific panel events aimed at people involved with those sectors. All of the events feature inspirational honours recipients including Mel B MBE, Lemn Sissay OBE, Mr Motivator MBE, Jay Blades MBE and many more. You can sign up to as many events as you like via the link above.
