Introducing the National Mobilisation Application (NMA)

NMA UAT Vehicle

The National Mobilisation Application is the new mobilisation solution being rolled out across all English ambulance services. NMA will replace our legacy Terrafix Mobile Data Terminals across the DSA, RRV and LOM fleet.

We are pleased to announce that our project is due to enter a pilot phase in September, where the first vehicles will receive the new equipment for operational testing and feedback.

NMA is already in widespread use across our organisation; NMA Lite, the smartphone version, is utilised by Community First Responders, HART and Private Ambulance Services deployed by EEAST.

Why is this happening?

The new National Application Mobilisation offers a modern user experience and expands on the core functionality currently available within the legacy Terrafix MDT solution. Importantly, the application is designed to improve road safety by minimising driver distractions through the use of text-to-speech and speech recognition. The new solution is nationally procured and aims to standardise ways of working across ambulance services.

Will there be training?

Yes. An online training package has been prepared and will be available soon. Colleagues will be required to complete the training prior to their first shift with the new NMA installed. Details on accessing this on OLM, our new e-learning platform, will be published in due course.

Where is NMA being piloted?

Initially, a selection of Double Staffed Ambulances and Rapid Response Vehicles based at Stevenage Hub will be fitted with the new equipment. Colleagues in this locality will receive further information regarding training and logistics via the project team and their local management teams in the coming weeks.

What if I have further questions?

We will post regular updates to NTK as the project progresses. Please email NMA@eastamb.nhs.uk with any questions or feedback.
