July National Quarterly Pulse Survey – what you told us

The National Quarterly Pulse surveys measure our progress in improving the lives of all our people at EEAST. The results provide us with an on-going indication of how you view working at EEAST, where we are making progress and also where we still need to develop further.

The results for this quarter’s survey are displayed in an infographic for you to view. The results for this quarter are shown against the previous survey results and also the year-to-date score to show an overall increase or decline.

View the infographic for the July results here.

We expect to see variances each quarter, which is why we also look at the year-to-date scores to see overall impact or decline. It’s really important that as many of you complete the survey as possible so that we have the most accurate understanding of how you view things at EEAST. The July survey received a slightly better response compared to the last survey. However, it still received 1,000 fewer responses than the January survey.

As you will see in the results, the July survey shows improvement from the last quarter with a mostly positive upward trend since last year.

The number of people who would recommend EEAST as a place to work has shown two consecutive months of increases year on year, up by 5% from last year. We were also pleased to see that there has been a 4% rise against the previous year in the number of people who are enthusiastic about their job.

Just over 46% of you reported feeling positive in July, compared to 45.7% in April. Also, more of you reported having manageable workloads – 13% of staff in July compared to 9% in April.

However, we have seen a decline in satisfaction relating to management, with 44% of people reporting that they feel negative about management in July compared to 40% in April.

While we saw quarterly improvements in our results, we know that there is much to be done to ensure EEAST is the employer of choice. We understand that the ongoing changes within the Trust and the current pressures on the healthcare system are impacting on your job satisfaction and the standard of care that we are able to provide. We will continue to take your feedback and work on improving the Trust for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the July survey. Every voice counts in providing an accurate picture of where we are and where we can be. The team is currently preparing for the annual National NHS Staff Survey which will take place in October so please take part. Your input and views will help change the culture of the Trust. Further details will be provided in Need to Know.
