Keep up to date on Monkeypox

Monkeypox NeedtoKnow

The number of cases of Monkeypox in the UK now stands at 190 as of Monday 30th May 2022 and cases have been detected in all parts of the UK.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has said the risk to the population remains low, but it is important vigilant and keep abreast of the latest information and guidance.

To assist with this, we have created a homepage for Monkeypox so all the information can all be stored in one place and easily accessed.

Our guidance remains to follow the HCID PPE instructions with suspected Monkeypox patients as outlined in the guidance document.

This is an evolving situation with many evidence reviews and guidance changes occurring nationally and it may be that the response changes in the future. However, please follow EEAST’s current guidelines for Monkeypox over the long Bank Holiday weekend until further notice.

Other providers, such as hospitals, that you encounter may have already taken a different approach to PPE, after conducting their own risk assessment and guidance review. Please be assured that EEAST will remain up to date with changes in evidence and always place a primary emphasis on staff safety.
