Leadership Learning Circle: LGBT+ Equality

This month’s session of our informal ‘Leadership Learning Circle’ will focus on Inclusive Leadership to raise awareness of the issues faced in the workplace by our lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer + (LGBTQ+) people.

The Leadership Learning Circle will provide information and guidance on The Equality Act 2010 and supporting our LGBT+ colleagues.  The event will have special guests Graham Clark, Chair of the EEAST LGBT+ Staff Network, alongside Michele Murray, Head of HR Policy.

The event will be held virtually via MS Teams on Thursday 27th July between 2:00 -  4:00pm.

In June the Trust was pleased to launch the Transgender and Non-Binary Equality Policy on MetaCompliance and on the intranet. Michele will provide an update into the key areas of the policy and the associated Transitioning Action Plan.

The session will explore how the Trust continues to ensure that our approach to our people continues to meet the challenges faced by LGBT+ employees. We will have the opportunity to learn from people with lived experiences. Graham will talk through the current workstreams of the staff network, and how this links with the recent LGBT+ survey results.

How does Learning Circles work?
The ‘Leadership Learning Circles,’ have been successfully running for over a year. It is a series of informal discussion groups being carried out remotely over MS Teams, giving managers the opportunity to talk about a variety of topics. The sessions are aimed at providing managers at all levels of experience with some practical ways to tackle issues they may face as a leader.

They are a ‘safe zone’ for open conversation where managers can share experiences and gather different perspectives from colleagues on how to approach similar situations in future.

Who can attend?
Any leader with line manager responsibility is welcome. Half of the available slots will be reserved for operational and AOC managers; the other half will be for corporate and support service managers. Each session will be for ten people. Specialists from the senior leadership, HR and staff side will be on hand to assist with facilitating the discussions.
