Leadership message from Dr Tom Davis

Dr Tom Davis

I would like to start with some people-related news. As you know, the recruitment process for EEAST’s new permanent chief executive is underway. The deadline for applications has now closed and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in early April, with an appointment expected later that month.

Once they are in post I will, as planned, return to my substantive role as EEAST’s deputy chief executive and medical director. Until then, I will continue as interim chief executive concentrating on delivering the best possible care for our patients and tackling our long-standing cultural issues. I look forward to welcoming our new chief executive and working as part of the leadership team to support our continued improvement. We will of course continue to keep you updated on this appointment.

Next Monday (8th March) we celebrate International Women’s Day. The All Women EEAST (AWE) network are co-hosting a collaborative virtual event with Essex Police and Essex Fire & Rescue on that day. There are still a few spaces left and people can register via this article on Need to Know. Throughout the week, we will also be sharing staff profiles of women throughout the Trust on Need to Know, with a shortened version being shared on our social media channels.

Finally, I want to focus on wellbeing, which is more important than ever given the pressures on the ambulance service and the wider impact on our lives of the pandemic. A range of support is available for you all to access and this will be highlighted on a new poster to be displayed throughout the Trust. Over the next four weeks, the wellbeing team will also be sharing extra information and content on Need to Know each Thursday. Please do take the time to read it.

Thank you and stay safe.

Dr Tom Davis
Interim Chief Executive Officer
