Meet our volunteers - Sherry

CFR Sherry - volunteers week

We’re coming to the end of Volunteer’s Week, but there’s just time to feature one final volunteer.

We’ve really enjoyed sharing your stories this week and don’t forget if you have a story to share please contact us at internalcommunications@eastamb.nhs.uk

Sherry, Community First Responder (CFR)

I have always been involved in voluntary service, beginning as a cub leader at 16. In 2016 I met a CFR for the first time after pulling someone out of the water and calling for an ambulance, I had no idea the scheme was a thing until that point and I signed up shortly after.

I really enjoy the community side of my role, I enjoy being there to support my neighbours and friends in their most difficult hour, and I am proud to be able to support our amazing crews when they arrive whether it's assisting in treatment of the patient or making their job easier by Information gathering or fetching and carrying for the crews.

The high level of care and compassion shown not only to our patients, but to each other, makes me proud to support such a vital lifesaving service. The role itself is challenging in many ways, but you’re well supported through your learning and are surrounded by kind and inspirational people.

Thank you, Sherry
