Meeting Basic Needs Programme

QI logo

Through working with the departments empowered to change Trust processes, the Meeting Basic Needs Programme has been developed and shall run across ten weeks from August.

The Meeting Basic Needs Programme aims to find a satisfactory resolution for staff and improve Trust processes to prevent them from causing an issue in the first place. To ensure that such issues are not left unresolved and further professionalise the organisation, it has been agreed that we must resolve commonly recurring issues to meet our people’s basic needs.

Through regular engagement at the Trust’s QI Cafes over the last nine months, common themes of unresolved issues were identified. These included (but were not limited to):

  • Recruitment – including bank contracts
  • Uniform orders
  • Pay
  • Rostering

We are inviting our staff to present their unresolved issues to key decision makers in relevant departments for immediate resolution or a commitment to an agreed completion date for more complex issues. We will thematically analyse the cause of issues to find opportunity for improvements.

Programme will run over ten weeks, starting 3 August 2023 in face-to-face and virtual blended approach to be taken on each day of the schedule. Please see the schedule below.

The precise location (site/room) and details of how to join the virtual sessions shall be shared with you all closer to the date.

We are encouraging staff members to attend either face-to-face or virtually if they have an issue supported by the programme which, despite your best efforts, is still to be resolved, and asking you to promote the availability of the programme to your colleagues.

We appreciate your support in this innovative approach being taken to make EEAST a better place to work.

If you are unable to attend the above mentioned sessions, you can send your concerns and questions to QI@eastamb.nhs.uk. Please do contact the QI team for any queries.

Kind Regards,

QI Team
