New Coloured Epaulettes

As part of our journey to better support colleagues, we are moving to a new system of coloured epaulettes which will be phased in over the coming twelve months.

This is to help improve human factors at complex scenes where it can be tricky to identify scope of practice or roles within the care team. It will also help to ensure that colleagues have an improved level of support, and to help you to better identify people that may need support with decision making or care planning. This includes identifying those who are early career clinicians, those in support roles and also those who are experienced in their clinical practice who can act as clinical leaders and role models.

The local leads for each of these areas will be implementing the new epaulettes in the coming months, so you may start to see these changes amongst your colleagues. We will eventually move all staff members that are within these groups across, but this will be done in different phases across 2023/24.
