New ER Podcasts now available for managers

Podcast

The next two ER podcasts in our series for leaders and managers within the organisation are now available for you to listen to.

Podcast two focuses on what to do if an initial conversation doesn’t resolve the issues and concerns that have been raised. What are the next steps in the process if you need to escalate, how do you do that and what support is there to help with this part of the process?

Podcast three focuses on the subject of welfare, which comes up so often in Employee Relations cases from the beginning right through to those that reach hearings and is one of the things that's most often raised as a concern by employees involved in Employee Relations cases.

The podcast series
The podcast series is designed to provide you with information, support and guidance on navigating the world of employee relations, following feedback from many leaders that they would welcome more experience with the processes involved and would value advice on best practice and sharing learning from others. Disciplinaries, Grievances and Dignity at Work complaints are important in supporting our people, but are also a challenge amongst all the other daily work pressures.

The podcasts are hosted by Karen Carter, Head of Employee Relations, and Simon King, one of our Heads of Operations who is currently seconded into a Hearing Chair role.

If you haven’t had the chance to listen to the first podcast yet you can catch it here: https://youtu.be/wf7jvXARxAc. You can also find the podcast and a transcript of the conversation on the Employee Relations page on East24.

It focuses on the first stage of an ER issue, when a colleague knocks at their manager’s door intending to raise a concern and runs right through to commissioning an investigation and presenting at a hearing.

The podcasts are intended primarily for anyone in a leadership role within the Trust but please feel free to share the link with other colleagues who may find it useful.

Karen and Simon would also welcome feedback on the material in the podcasts and any questions or topics that would like covered in future episodes. You can contact them at employeerelationspodcast@eastamb.nhs.uk.
