NHSBT Amber Alert on Blood Stocks

NHS Blood and Transplant has triggered an “amber alert” – which came into force Wednesday 12^th October 2022.

This means some elective operations will need to be cancelled. Urgent care and emergency care will continue as normal.

NHSBT can issue this when stocks are at around two days. This is the first time NHSBT has issued an Amber Alert for red blood cells. Stocks are lowest for O negative and O positive.
