On your marks, get set, pull! Ambulance pull challenge for charity

Two women, two ambulances, one goal: to cross the finish line first.

In what can only be described as an inspirational display of strength and steely determination, HART Paramedic, Sarah Ford and Southend Paramedic, Emma-Louise Bowen Hillson will soon be competing against each other in an #AmbulancePullChallenge to raise money for charity.

But not only do the women want to raise money for charity, they hope that the #AmbulancePullChallenge will defy gender stereotypes, inspire other women to look after their health and wellbeing and demonstrate how AWE-some EEAST women really are.

Sarah, the brainchild of the challenge was inspired to do it by the 2016 world’s strongest man event, an aircraft pull and says: “I still want to be able to pick up people at 68 years old, and I think this challenge will really show the general public and our colleagues that we are strong women and we want to inspire other women to get strong and be healthy.”

Emma-Louise, her feisty competitor and equal rival said: “It’s as much about the heart and lungs as the strength, the question isn’t necessarily can you move a heavy object, but can you keep it moving before your lungs give out?”

They’ve trained hard, the date is set and now they’re looking for some support. So let’s get behind them and cheer them on to victory.

The event will take place on Sunday, 21st May at a Family Fun Day being held at the North Weald Airfield, Essex. And as well as the #AmbulancePullChallenge, there are lots of fun and interesting things for the whole family to get involved in on the day.

Sarah and Emma-Louise have set up a JustGiving page and are hoping to raise £999 for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance charity; who's your bet on to win the race?
