Paramedic progression to band 6 update

RRV with blurred paramedic

The Trust acknowledges and offers sincere apologies for the delays in action following the communication some months ago, regarding the Trust’s agreement to address and close the concerns for all staff affected by delays in the process of progressing to NQP and subsequently Paramedic (band 6). Absences and capacity over the summer period have unfortunately driven this delay.

We are now in a position to move forward with this piece of work and will be taking the following actions in the coming weeks:

For staff who commenced on a Student Paramedic contract

  • We are working with the Training and Education team to conduct an in depth review of each individual member of staff affected, to determine the period of delay and the reason for any delays.

Pre-existing qualified EMTs who have submitted evidence

  • Panels consisting of senior management and Unison colleagues will be set up to review all submitted evidence as outlined in the criteria previously shared.

Results of these panel reviews will be shared with individuals once all reviews have been completed. To ensure fairness, we will not be able to share results before this time.
