Public Engagement Volunteers Required

RRV with blurred paramedic

EEAST receives daily requests from schools, community groups, fetes and others asking for staff volunteers to visit them to talk about the Trust to improve awareness of how the service works. It gives us an opportunity to explain our roles and responsibilities to the public and allows us to describe what happens when we receive and attend emergency calls. It also allows us to demonstrate some basic first aid skills and talk about what it is like to be a frontline clinician.

Do you have a passion for public engagement such as educating school children about the service we provide, demonstrating basic first aid skills, giving talks to community groups or helping out on stalls at large county events? If so, we would love to hear from you and add you to our staff and volunteer engagement register. If an engagement opportunity comes up in your area, we will then contact you to see if you are able to assist. Although these activities are unpaid and should be undertaken in your own time, this is also an opportunity to enhance your portfolio and Continuous Professional Development.

If you are already undertaking school visits or other engagement activities, then please do get in touch with the Patient and Public Involvement Team so we can record it on our engagement database and offer you support and a variety of resources for your event.

For further information or to get your name added to the register please email the Patient and Public Involvement Team: involvement@eastamb.nhs.uk and identity the area in which you are prepared to volunteer.
