Re-launch of Staff QI Ideas

#Qidea logo

Monday 3rd October 2022 saw the re-launch the staff QI ideas process.

What is QI?

Quality Improvement (QI) is a systematic approach that uses specific techniques to improve quality in health care.

Some projects succeed, some are not viable. QI does not ensure a project will succeed, but in applying QI techniques, a selection of tools and QI knowledge ensures that the feasibility of a project can be tested and re-evaluated.

A well-planned project which considers others involved, potential problems, sustainability and cost from the start, is more likely to succeed and feed into long-term continuous improvement.

Further information can be found on the recent QI sway presentation here.

I have an idea about how to improve something, but I don't know where to start, if it would work or how to go about it...

Contact the Quality Improvement (QI) team -

Scan the QR code (or visit ... ) and tell us all about your idea

We can support you to run your own project, ensuring it is sustainable and improves quality for you, your colleagues or your pateints.

It can be a small local idea, or a larger trust-wide concept.

What does this mean to me?

Staff on the ground have a unique insight into where change and improvement could occur, and how it can be done.

This could be a small idea at a local level, or a trust-wide change.

We want to tap into this knowledge and encourage this initiative and help bring your ideas to life. The QI team are not there to own the project, we are there to support you at every stage.

If you have an idea and are happy to work on it with our support, we want to hear from you. The poster below explains the stages:

Complete our form to submit an idea to the QI team here.

What to expect when you raise an idea to the QI team:

Contact the QI team via the MS form with your idea.

One of the QI team will contact you to gain more information.

We will asses the idea for feasibility, this may include inviting you to a meeting with the relevant department.

If it's not feasible, we will feedback to you why the idea is not feasible. It will be recorded in case anything changes.

If it is feasible, we will meet with you to work through quality improvement tools and project planning. Giving you key steps to aid the success of your project, as well as keeping in contact and supporting you.
