Supporting Our Employees Experiencing Domestic Violence

record 3

The next of our ‘Leadership Learning Circle’ discussions for managers will focus on ‘Supporting Our Employees Experiencing Domestic Violence.’

The virtual learning circle will take place on 15th November, from 10:00am-12:00pm. In this session we will have guest speakers talking about the impact of domestic violence on individuals, signs to look out for in your staff and how managers can support a staff member who has reached out for help.

Domestic violence is not a gender specific issue. Both female and male staff could experience it. As a Trust we should make clear what support is available, if a member of our staff is experiencing domestic violence or abuse. As managers you should have the confidence and right tools in place to support your staff and your team. At this next event you will have the opportunity to hear from some our staff, who have come forward to bravely talk about their experience with domestic violence and how they coped (or not). We hope that listening to them and discussing the issue in a safe space, together we can come up with practical steps to effectively support colleagues experiencing domestic abuse.

How does Learning Circles work?
‘Learning Circles,’ was launched at the beginning of June. It is a series of informal discussion groups being carried out remotely over MS Teams, giving managers the opportunity to talk about a variety of topics. The sessions are aimed at providing managers at all levels of experience with some practical ways to tackle issues they may face as a leader.

They are a ‘safe zone’ for open conversation where managers can share experiences and gather different perspectives from colleagues on how to approach similar situations in future.

Who can attend?
Any leader with line manager responsibility is welcome. Half of the available slots will be reserved for operational and AOC managers; the other half will be for corporate and support service managers. Each session will be for ten people. Specialists from the senior leadership, HR and staff side will be on hand to assist with facilitating the discussions.

How do I sign up?
