The LGBT+ Network needs you!

Ely Pride 22

This summer see’s the return of Pride, and with multiple events taking place throughout the East of England, EEAST’s LGBT+ network needs volunteers to represent the Trust.

Would you like to represent the Trust at a public event? Between June and August 2022 EEAST attended 6 Pride events across the East of England region, engaging with in excess of 1,800 community members and we are looking for any staff, volunteers or students who would like to join us at any of this year’s events.

The network handed out recruitment information, colouring books, merchandise and emergency/non-emergency service use information. Staff were able to demonstrate the fantastic new Gazebo and EEAST branded progress flags as well as new merchandise and literature.

Following last year’s events, network chair Graham Clark said, ‘The take home message for me was at Suffolk Pride, our first event of last year’s season where a lady came up to me, thanked me for all we do as an organisation and said to me just how important it was to her as a lesbian woman that her local ambulance service was attending these events.’

You do not need to be a member of EEASTs LGBT+ network, or even part of the LGBT+ community, the event is open to everyone, and this year it would be great to have as many allies as possible in attendance.

These are family events that reach out to all people in the community, regardless of background, belief or sexuality. This is a coming together of all people to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion. These events are widely and well received by the public and previous participants have said that they have found the experience to be very rewarding and enjoyable.

Pride events in East of England that have been identified are as follows.

  • Cambridge Pride: 17th June
  • Essex Pride: 24th June
  • Luton Pride: 24th June
  • Peterborough Pride: 24th June

  • Norwich Pride: 29th July
  • Ely Pride: 29th July
