Top award for paramedic Liam

Paramedic Liam Sagi has been named ‘critical care practitioner of the year’ at a national awards ceremony.

Liam, who is employed by EEAST but currently seconded to the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), picked up the accolade at the Air Ambulances UK Awards of Excellence, which was held virtually on Friday 3 December.

Liam, from Felixstowe, was recognised for regularly going above and beyond for the EAAA charity, its staff and patients. Not only does he provide exceptional clinical patient care, but is an indispensable and supportive team member who stands out for his remarkable motivation and dedication.

Liam also had the unique experience of treating a colleague who was involved in a road traffic collision last year. Despite the psychological and wellbeing impact, Liam and his team quickly provided advanced life-saving care, flying their colleague to the major trauma centre for further treatment. She has since made a full recovery.

Liam said: “Just to be nominated for this award was a huge honour. I feel incredibly privileged to do my job and I love being able to help people at their worst hour so to be presented with this award is truly humbling. I am very thankful.”

In his spare time, Liam also volunteers as a critical care paramedic for Suffolk Accident Rescue Service and has volunteered over 1,200 hours of his time as a volunteer responder over the past 15 months.
