Trust steps down to REAP 3

REAP 3

The Trust has now moved from REAP 4 ‘extreme pressure’ status to REAP 3, or ‘severe pressure’.

This reduction has been made possible by the hard work of Trust colleagues to reduce overall waiting times for patients who call 999 and ensure patients who do not need a 999 response get more appropriate care.

The Trust had previously been operating at REAP 4 since July 2021. The four REAP levels correspond to Opel (Operational Pressures Escalation Levels) used by other NHS organisations. They provide a framework to maintain an effective and safe operational and clinical response for patients.

Melissa Dowdeswell, Interim COO and Director of Nursing, Safety and Quality, said:

‘To be able to step down to REAP 3 is extremely significant for us, particularly after the intense demand we have experienced since July 2021. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone within the Trust who has played their part in ensuring that we have been able to deliver the best possible patient care during this extended period. De-escalating is a step in the right direction and we will continue the work we are already doing to put measures in place that help us manage periods of significant demand whilst also controlling the impact that pressure has on all our teams.’
