Understanding Occupational Health

Providing all our staff with wellbeing support is part of our role as your employer and our Occupational Health function is central to this.

It is vitally important that we are all aware of the level of support Occupational Health can offer and how to access their services should we need them.

At the bottom of this article you can download details of all the resources offered by our current OH provider, Kays Medical, and the relevant contact information, you can also find it here. If you feel you need to access the OH service, please do contact Kays, particularly if you are in urgent need of help and support.

Our OH service is intended to be a short term, early intervention service, from which recommendations can then be made for additional, ongoing support or treatment if necessary. It is primarily designed to assess and begin to address, the impact your work may be having on your health and wellbeing and, conversely, the impact your health and wellbeing may be having on your ability to work.

Should you access our OH service and subsequently require additional sessions to complete your treatment, or facilitate your return to work, your therapist, practitioner or OH professional will make this recommendation. Each of these requests is processed and assessed in conjunction with the senior OH Lead at Kays. Whilst this process is taking place, you should not need to request additional sessions via the Wellbeing Team, however, if you are concerned for yourself or another member of staff about the support provided by Kays, then please contact the Wellbeing Team.

If you are seeking support for something that is not work related, is not impacting you at work or is likely to be a long term issue/condition then you should visit your GP (if it is health related), or use other available services such as charity organisations and mental health hubs. This will ensure you receive the appropriate level of support, potentially over a longer time frame if needed.
