Update on disability related absences in incentive scheme

Ambulance side shot

The Trust has been working hard to make the incentive scheme as fair as possible to all our people. This is a challenge faced by other ambulance trusts and hospitals.

The incentive scheme is focused on increasing the number of staff available to respond to patients in our community. This is especially important given that Covid-19 cases are rising as the new Omicron variant becomes more prevalent.

We want to ensure that the system is as fair as possible for everyone when someone is ill and unable to do their incentivised shift as we have had a number of  queries about this.

To clarify - if a colleague is absent due to their disability, then that staff member should not have their incentive removed. This should, of course, be reviewed by the local management team and, if challenged, can be escalated to head of operations and the chief operating officer.
