Using the Directory of Services and MiDOS

A national database of all services commissioned within the NHS, which provides information on how they can be accessed, is available to all staff.

The Directory of Services (DoS) database can be accessed through ‘search engine’ MiDOS, where you can view a list of relevant services depending on your patient’s location and needs.

You will find information such as what the service provides, opening hours and contact information (telephone number and/or address).

The database is updated by the service providers and maintained by clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), which means the information on the database is the most complete and accurate information you can access. This should mean that alternative care pathways can be used to get patients to the most appropriate care safely, without you having to transport patients to emergency departments unnecessarily.

The simple search engine can be accessed through any web browser (IOS and Android apps will be released very soon),using individually assigned log-on details. If you have no internet access at scene, then you can call through to the emergency clinical advice and triage centre (ECAT) for support.

The training video for using MiDoS is available at the following link and shows how to get your log-in details, if you have not already been emailed them:

If you have any feedback or ways to improve the system, please use the feedback button in MiDoS.
