Patients waited up to two-and-a-half days for ambulances - and 40 hours to get into A&E
A press release by the Labour Party with examples of long waits that patients experienced for ambulances last winter generated widespread national media coverage today. One of seven examples included in the press release was a patient who waited 36 hours for an ambulance in the east of England. Ambulance waits in Steve Barclay's own constituency among the worst, data shows
A press release sent by the Liberal Democrats last week was reported on exclusively by the Daily Mirror. Using data from a Freedom of Information request, the press release contrasted the ambulance response times in urban and rural areas and singled out those in north east Cambridgeshire, the constituency of Health and Social Care Secretary, Steve Barclay. 

One in three people forced to make their own way to hospital due to ambulance delays
The Liberal Democrats issued a press release on a poll they commissioned on the public’s experiences of calling an ambulance which was covered by the Daily MailDaily Telegraph and i Newspaper. The poll by Savanta of 2,093 adults found that 18 per cent had called an ambulance for themselves or a family member in the past year and, of those, fifty-five per cent said one arrived, while the remainder either travelled there themselves or did not attend the hospital. 

Ambulance trust offering senior staff up to £80,000 to quit
The Mail Online and The Metro picked up on the Eastern Daily Press story on the Trust launching the Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (MARS). The former conflated the story with the recent publication of the survey into the experiences of BME staff at EEAST.

The Eastern Daily Press (EDP) approached EEAST for comment after seeing the Need to Know article on the Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (MARS).The article mentions the recent report into the experiences of BME staff at EEAST. East Anglian Daily Times and the Norwich Evening News published the same story.   

Norfolk ambulance waits among worst in the country
The EDP also published a story on ambulance handover delays at hospitals in Norfolk, approaching EEAST and the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care for comment. The story reported that ambulance crews spent the equivalent of three-and-a-half years stranded outside Norfolk’s hospitals over the winter.
