What to do if approached by a journalist

There was great interest from the media yesterday for a running commentary on how ambulance services were coping during industrial action – including at EEAST, although we were not on strike on the day.   

A number of journalists contacted our people via social media. As a result, we would like to issue a reminder of what to do in these circumstances – whether it is in person at a hospital waiting to handover a patient or on social media.  

Please refer the journalist to EEAST’s communications team who will deal with the enquiry. 

While it is important to be open and transparent with the public about the pressures we are facing, it is equally important we maintain consistent messaging by going through the appropriate channels for sign-off.
