Clinical update: removal of EZ-IO trigger guard

Yellow kit bag

We have been advised by the supplier that when the EZ-IO is stored in its yellow case, the trigger guard should be removed.

This is because, under certain circumstances, the guard can inadvertently activate the trigger - causing the EZ-IO to turn on and run down the battery.

As a result, staff are asked to please remove trigger guards from all EZ-IO drivers that are kept in the yellow cases, as shown below, and return the guards to the EEAST medical devices office in Norwich (Hospital Lane, Norwich, NR6 5NA).

You can download a step-by-step bulletin about how to remove the trigger, here on Need to Know. The bulletin is also printable should you want to display a copy on your station.
