An Essex crew have been hailed as life-savers after treating a patient who suffered a heart attack earlier last year.

Paramedic Ian Callow and EMT Stephen Gardiner were called to a lady suffering chest pains in Benfleet on the 5th March 2014.

After making a rapid assessment of Marion Parker, 70, they conveyed her to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital where she underwent several procedures. It emerged she had suffered a complete blockage of an artery in her heart resulting in a heart attack.

She had nothing but praise for their care: “I can’ thank you guys enough; my family and I are eternally grateful for what they [Ian and Stephen] did. There aren’t any other words that can do it justice.

Ian Callow said: “It’s wonderful to see Marion under much happier circumstances given how serious her condition was.”
