Kerry and Iain Colquhoun, and daughter Maisie

Ambulance side shot

Unfortunately, Norfolk SLM Di Chan had to share sad news this week that our colleagues  Kerry and Iain Colquhoun’s daughter Maisie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday (13th November) at home, aged 17.

Di said: “Having spent time with the family today [16th November], they have asked that I personally thank all of you who have shown tremendous support and encouragement throughout this difficult time.  Many of you took part in raising funds for “Maisie 100” for which she was very grateful.

“The family have written the following which they wanted me to share with you:

Dear All,

Without your amazing support and craziness for taking part in the Maisie 100, Maisie wouldn’t have had the input of energy and motivation you provided her to be the Maisie we all loved and knew.  Sadly, Maisie passed away in her sleep with her family all around her last Friday 13th and as we said our last goodbyes a cheeky Maisie smile formed on her beautiful little face.

“Maisie was so very grateful for all of the kind messages and support you gave her and without you all as a ’family’ we would not have been able to have had the wonderful memories of Italy and the experience.  The money that you kindly raised allowed us to take Maisie on holiday, provided her with everything she asked for and wanted to do.  Without it all we would not have had the freedom to fulfil Maisie’s wishes, from these of which we have made lifelong memories.

“We are so very grateful for you all and for being part of our lives. From something so negative a positive will always shine through.  In this case, this is all of you.  A heartfelt thanks from us all.”

The funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed for anyone wishing to attend. Di will share these once they have been confirmed.

Anyone affected by Maisie’s death can contact a central or east DLO, or Di directly.
