Safeguarding: more than 2,000 referrals made

EEAST RRVs and amb on scene

One of our key commitments and responsibilities to our patients and staff is to ensure their safety at all times whilst in our care and to protect them from harm.  We are pleased that in January we made more than 2,000 referrals, surpassing our previous high. Such reporting shows our staff are looking at the widest possible picture when they attend to patients, and potentially making a real difference to their future lives.

Safeguarding training is completed at level 1 for all non-patient facing staff and level 2 for all patient facing/clinical staff including our volunteers.   A new look Safeguarding Manual is also due out soon that will include important reference materials such as up to date children and adult safeguarding polices and the new capacity to consent policy. The documents are an important tool to aid you all in your continuing role around safeguarding our patients.  The Trust Board will also be participating in safeguarding training over the coming weeks.

Remember, when considering a referral please contact the SPOC phone number, on 0345 602 6856, which is available 24/7 every day of the year. It is also important to complete a referral after all child deaths to ensure the correct support mechanisms are activated to all involved.
