Top of the crops: Lorna's close shave nears £1,000 for charity

For most of us the thought of shaving our own head is enough to make us want to run a mile.

But for dispatcher Lorna, getting the chop was the perfect way to raise money for a charity close to her heart.

Last Friday (14th August) Lorna said so long to her locks in memory of her cousin Shiona, who lost her battle with cancer just a few months ago, and she’s managed to raise nearly £1,000 for Cancer Research UK in the process.

Lorna, who has worked for the Trust for 14 years, took the plunge in the Chelmsford control room after being rooted on by her colleagues: “It was a fantastic day. I was nervous but the support from everyone has been amazing.

“After losing my beautiful young cousin, Shiona, to cancer I just wanted to do something in her memory. It’s feels incredible to have raised so much for such a wonderful charity, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has donated – thank you!”

Lorna had originally set a target of £300, but has more than trebled that figure with more donations still to come.

Well done Lorna on your ‘unbeweaveble’ achievement!

There’s still time for you to make a donation to Lorna’s cause – please visit her JustGiving page.
