A better place to work, step-by-step: your weekly update from our CEO

You only need to read the other articles being published in Need to Know today (12^th February) to see how, step by step, we are together making EEAST a better place to work.

Following feedback from you and a lot of positive joint-working with UNISON, we have revisited our vehicle inspection policy to give you protected time to do your daily checks, we’re reintroducing Magnum boots as part of our uniform, and next month our first modular ECA to technician course will be starting.

And all the while we’re still recruiting more student paramedics to help ease that pressure on the frontline and provide a better service to our patients; new adverts went out this week, and we’re particularly looking for people who can join in Hertfordshire, east Suffolk and west Essex – if you know of caring, professional people who you think would be a good fit here at EEAST, please do encourage them to apply.

Although some of these changes are small, in their own way they all help make EEAST a better place. If you haven’t done so already, please take two minutes of your day to complete our short values survey – your opinions on this is what is going to help shape the future of our organisation and what it represents.

I appreciate that change can sometimes come more slowly than we all would like, but it’s important that we take the time to get those changes right. Thank you to you all for your patience, perseverance and commitment, which have paid dividends. I received a letter this week from our Chair, Sarah Boulton, asking me to express her and the non-executive directors’ official thanks to all of you for all you have done to keep delivering good services to our patients in such challenging circumstances over the last few months. It’s a sentiment I echo entirely.
