Action Counters Terrorism and we all have a part to play.

New online training from the National Counter Terrorism Security Office is live on LearnZone, with all staff encouraged to take time to learn about how they could prevent a terrorist attack.

Steve Brant, Resilience Manager, said: “Whether you’re front line or support staff, we all play a vital role is preventing terrorism. By the very nature of our work, operational and support staff often attend places that the general public wouldn’t.

"We see areas of people lives others don’t, and attend places that could potentially be targets, so It’s important to empower ourselves with knowledge to spot something out of the ordinary and take action before it’s too late.

“Whether on duty or off we are all the eyes and ears of the police and security services, so it’s vital we have some working knowledge of what to look out for.”

The training, which is available on LearnZone, covers topics such as suspicious behaviour and hostile reconnaissance, what to do in the event of a firearms attack or if you discover a suspect package. Staff are strongly encouraged to take time to go through this learning module.
