Air ambulance learning: invite to this month's EAAA day

The East Anglian Air Ambulance is inviting colleagues here at EEAST to attend their May clinical governance day – a day completely dedicated to case studies, discussion, and joint learning.

Taking place on Friday, 8th May in Bury St Edmunds, the team will be discussing a number of specific incidents they’ve attended; on the agenda this month is a review of rapid sequence induction (RSI), damage control surgery and a review of the equipment the teams use.

The event is running at South Lee School (IP33 2BT) and will open to EEAST staff at 10.30am (directions at the bottom of this article).

PROGRAMME 

  • 10.45-11.15am: RSI, a three year review – medical student presentation
  • 11.15am-12pm: Damage control surgery
  • 12-12.45pm: Equipment review – Gary Steward
  • 12.45-1pm: Pneumofix, a sponsor presentation – Prometheus Medical Ltd
  • 1-1.40pm: Lunch (please bring your own)
  • 1.40-2.20pm: Audit of clinical case – Dr Alex Cross
  • 2.20-2.50pm: Journal club – Marcel Rigaud
  • 2.50-3.10pm: Openness and CRM training, an exercise – Chris Martin
  • 3.10-3.30pm: HEMSbase update – Richard Hindson
  • 3.30-4pm: Wellbeing of the group – Gary Spitzer

DIRECTIONS: From the A14, take the Bury St Edmunds East slip-road and follow the sign A143 Haverhill/A134 Sudbury. Go straight over the next two roundabouts and turn left at the third, signposted South Lee School. At the fork in the road, keep left. The school is then on the right hand side.

On entry to the school sports ground, take a sharp left and follow the track round the back of the large sports hall and park at the end. You will the pavilion on the right hand side.
