Ambulance duo inspire the next generation of lifesavers

Hundreds of children were given an insight into the work of the Trust when two members of staff brought an ambulance and rapid response vehicle to school.

Martyn Harrell and Steve Wainwright, who both work in Peterborough, visited Whaplode Primary earlier this month (13th and 14th October) as part of the school’s ‘medics month’.

Martyn and Steve showed the Trust ambulance and RRV and the medical equipment they use and talked about their work.

Martyn said: “We pride ourselves on public contact here at Peterborough depot and I would like to show everyone how beneficial it is. The children were amazing and ultimately learned that the ambulance service is not scary and we are always there to help them.  I’m proud to be part of a Trust that supports this type of community engagement.”

Assistant headteacher Emma Adie said the visit had inspired the pupils.

“The children were amazed. A few of the children have been saying they want to be paramedics or want to work in the medical profession.”
