Ambulance service provides training morning for 'About with Friends' Charity

Brandon and Chris About with Friends Visit

Last Friday (30th November) a team from the Trust visited 'About with Friends' to participate in the charity’s members training day.

Paramedic, Chris Sharman and community first responders, John Newman* and Sandra Newman, ran an interactive training session which covered important topics such as when and how to call an ambulance and resuscitation procedures. Members were also able to take a look inside an ambulance.

David Russell, Community Engagement Group (CEG) Coordinator for the Norfolk and Waveney Sector of the Trust said: "The team received such an enthusiastic reception from About with Friends members and staff and found the morning particularly rewarding. We are most grateful to About with Friends for providing such an opportunity to engage with people in the community who were keen to learn about the service".

About with Friends Workskills Manager, Hannah Pennington, thanked the team from the Trust for providing an engaging and informative session and said there had been lots of positive feedback.

Based in Cromer, About with Friends is a fun, active and energetic charity offering children, young people and adults with learning disabilities the chance to lead the lives they choose. When people become part of our organisation they have opportunities to develop lasting friendships; engage in fun and active social activities; get involved in the community; have the chance to try new experiences; learn new skills both for life and work; but above all feel a valued part of society while enjoying life to the full.

*John Newman is also Chairman of the Trust's Community Engagement Group (CEG).
