Ambulance staff hope to score high for charity

A group of our guys and girls in green are swapping work boots for football boots when they take part in a charity football match next month, and are asking as many of their colleagues to attend.

Their efforts will help raise money for War Child, the specialist charity for children affected by conflict.

Their team, United for the Innocents, will be taking on the Arsenal Charity team at Royston Town football club on Sunday, 7^th May and are encouraging everyone to come and watch.

The event promises to be a fun filled one, with lots of activities on offer including face painting, half-time entertainment, food stalls, and an auction.

Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) Paramedic Kevin O’Sullivan has led the campaign and said: “I would encourage anyone in the area to come and watch. It is shaping up to be a fantastic day and most importantly it is all for an incredibly vital cause.”

War Child protects, educates, and stands up for the rights of children caught up in conflict. The charity works with its partners in 15 countries, from supporting Syrian children to access education, to reintegrating child soldiers in the Central African Republic and promoting justice for young people in detention in Afghanistan.

Tickets are £5 and can be bought on the day at the Royston Town FC which can be found on Garden Walk, Royston (SG8 7HP). Children under the age of 14 can enter for free with the day kicking off from 12pm. To find out more about War Child and support the charity visit www.warchild.org.uk.
