Announcement from Sarah Boulton

Sarah Boulton

I wanted to write and let you all know that, after five and half years at EEAST, I have decided to stand down as chair.

It has been a real pleasure and privilege to have been the Chair of the Trust for so many years. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all our staff and volunteers, who do an incredible job every single day, and to our board of directors for all their support over the years.

It has been a very difficult decision to step aside as we have a really fantastic group of people working at EEAST who are committed to doing their absolute best for our patients. However, as the Trust is about to begin the process of recruiting a permanent Chief Executive, I felt it was the right time to hand over to a new Chair so that they can be fully involved in that process.

I have seen a great deal of change during my time at the Trust. We have made some really positive improvements to the service over the past few years. We have strengthened our focus on quality of care, resulting in a strong performance against our ambulance clinical quality indicators, I am especially proud of our clinical hub, the ECAT, which has proved invaluable since its launch two years ago and is often ranked as one of the country’s top performing hear and treat services.

I’m confident that I am leaving EEAST in a strong position having worked very intensely, over the last 18 months in particular, I am also looking forward to taking a break. An interim chair of EEAST will be appointed while recruitment takes place for a permanent chair. We will keep you updated about progress.

I wish you all every success for the future.
